In some parts of the scenic, southern Italian region of Basilicata, up to 70 percent of the drinking water never reaches a tap.
Nestled in the arch of Italy’s boot, Basilicata’s coat of arms features undulating blue lines representing four major rivers which, technically, make the region water-rich. Many of its residents have depended on the local Camastra dam for decades.
